Can Christians Be Cursed Through Witchcraft?
Many Christian leaders teach that believers can never come under a curse sent by witchcraft. They often refer to the account of when Balaam and Balak would have cursed Israel but failed because Israel was in right standing with God. Nevertheless, these same Bible teachers can neither deny nor explain real life occurrences of Christians being affected by curses sent through witchcraft. Learn what the Bible says on this subject. Straight-forward and scripturally accurate answers are provided for readers who may also test their knowledge by completing the questionnaire at the end.

Supernatural Beings: Can Animals See Them?
A Real Life Halloween Story

Approximately thirty years ago a young woman and her three children moved into a two-story house in a small town in Iowa. All went well for a few weeks as the family settled in, but one of the bedrooms upstairs proved to be a challenge to make a comfortable sleeping place. The woman couldn't ignore the very unsettling sensation that crept over her whenever she entered the room. The history of the house was never researched as a decision was made to move out after a series of manifestations by supernatural beings.
There are at least 2 reasons for which paranormal activities occurred, including a brief physical attack by a spirit. One of the woman's sons took an interest in the occult and purchased what was then known as a witchcraft kit. The teenager began working with the kit to learn to practice magic. Also, the attic which was accessed from that strange bedroom contained very old artifacts among which was a large picture frame. The son who had purchased the witchcraft kit and his mother decided one day to explore and clean out the attic. The objects found were removed by them one night and brought down to the second floor. To the best of their knowledge, they separated the potentially valuable items from the worthless ones which were taken out as garbage. The picture frame was placed in a corner of a room. They had planned to check if it had worth at a local antiques shop the next day.
Their plan was quickly altered when in the middle of the night the corner in which the frame was placed glowed with a light not generated by any natural source, electrical, battery, or moonlight. The woman, afraid to touch the frame in the night, waited until the next day to sit it out for the garbage. However, that night the house which sat in a semi-country setting with only one neighboring house that stood a half block away, experienced supernatural activities. The sound of someone banging at the back door in the middle of the night woke everyone. The mother hurried down the stairs to see who was there. The banging continued until the moment she arrived at the door and asked who it was. There was no answer, just silence and the same disturbing sensation that swept over her when in that upstairs bedroom. The woman pulled the curtain back and saw nothing but the picture frame that had glowed the night before.
Of course there was much discussion about the events that took place in that house. Many questions were asked. Were the spirits ghosts? Were they evil spirits? Can objects be cursed? What did the spirits look like? The last question to which the only member of the family knew the answer was the dog. Do animals have the ability to see supernatural beings? Indeed, these are questions that Christians and non-Christians alike have asked and continue to ask, but rarely receive answers or even clues. Does biblical scripture shed any light on the subject of
the paranormal?
One night when there were no glowings, unexplained sounds or commotion, peace still was absent. The family's German Shepherd would not cease to growl, bark, and whine as she intensely starred at a presence that stood in the corner of one of the rooms in the downstairs. Who or what did she see? Why, even in her anger over the invisible being's presence was she also afraid to attack?
The Bible is not silent on such phenomena. In the Old Testament book of Numbers there's the account of an animal that saw both the physical and spiritual while her owner saw only the physical. Scripture reads, "And the ass saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way and his sword drawn in his hand and the ass turned aside out of the way and went into the field. And Balaam smote (hit) the ass to turn her into the way...and when the ass saw the angel of the Lord she fell down under Balaam and Balaam's anger was kindled and he smote the ass with a staff. And the Lord opened the mouth of the ass and she said unto Balaam, 'What have I done unto thee that thou hast smitten me these three times?'...Then the Lord opened the eyes of Balaam and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way..." (KJV, Numbers 22:23, 27-28, 31).
Scripture says that God opened the mouth of the ass, but it doesn't say he opened her eyes. Obviously, she could naturally see the angel of God that Balaam couldn't. What would the family's dog had said that night had her mouth been opened to talk? This is just a tiny sampling of biblical insight into spiritual matters.
