Could Toltec Wisdom Contain Christian Messages?

In the book, Toltec Prophecies of Don Miguel Ruiz, we read some teachings taken from the Holy Bible that are meant to sound Christian. It's unknown whether the author, Ms. Mary Carroll Nelson, or whether Don Miguel Ruiz is the one who tries to align him or herself with Christian believers by talking about Jesus, and referring to books of the Christian Bible. What we do know is that there's a sharp contrast between the Toltec wisdom put forth in Toltec Prophecies of Don Miguel Ruiz and biblical wisdom. You're about to become aware of that fact. Below are various teachings from Toltec wisdom followed by the teachings from the wisdom of the Christian Bible.

According to Toltec wisdom, "The prophets said that when the sixth sun rises, God will awake from his sleep." According to biblical wisdom, the Lord never sleeps, so He never wakes up. We read, "Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep" (Psalm 121:4).

According to Toltec wisdom, "Our task in this life is to get rid of the old dream." According to the wisdom of the Christian Bible, our task in this life is to fear God and obey His commandments. We read, "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments. For this is the whole duty of man" (Ecclesiastes 12:13).

According to Toltec wisdom, "Jesus showed us how to resist temptation with love." According to the wisdom of God's Word (the Holy Bible), we resist temptation through the power of God, which only comes to us when we submit ourselves to Him. We resist by battling against sin, and by resisting the devil. We read, "Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin" (Hebrews 12:4). And, "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4:7).

According to Toltec wisdom, man is divine. He need only become aware of his divinity. In other words, man is God. According to the wisdom of the Christian Bible, however, it was another spirit who said the very same thing to Eve in the Garden of Eden. Who is that spirit? His name is Satan, a spirit who has various names in Scripture: the devil, that old serpent, Beelzebub, the dragon, etc. We read, "The serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die. For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened. And ye shall be as gods" (Genesis 3:4-5). God had told them they would die if they ate from the forbidden tree. Later, in the Scriptures of the Christian Bible, we're told that death entered the world through Adam's and Eve's sin. Absolutely everyone dies. How then can we say that what God said in the Holy Bible is not true? Even an ignorant person has to acknowledge that truth.

Jesus wants a relationship with you. He wants to forgive, teach, bless and keep you from all evil. However, your part is to receive Him as your Lord and Savior.
