Should Christian Web Sites Earn Money With Google AdSense? Yes!
Google AdSense to Monetize Christian Web Sites?
Today, much of what is labeled as Christian is in sharp disagreement with biblical scripture, and sometimes it is anti-Christian. Web masters, designers, and developers who are true believers in the word of God do not want some Google AdSense ads appearing on their site. True Christian web sites are "tainted" by ads for "Christian" psychics, mediums, and workers of magic. As believers, we do not want ads promoting teachings or participation in any form of the occult or that deny the divinity of Jesus. Such ads certainly will display if the domains they represent are not blocked. Can they be blocked so that believers in Christ can earn money from Google AdSense like those who are not Christian? Yes, they can, and it's very easy to do.
Monetize Your Christian Web Sites Without Worry
Once you have acquired a Google AdSense account, and have the campaign running on your site, you can easily block inappropriate ads from displaying. Granted, you will have to see the ad first or be told about it to know that you don't want it to run, because any ads will run as long as they're in the categories you've allowed. The web developer of this site (HeavenlyManna.net) has blocked at least twenty domains from displaying ads on the site due to their promotion of what is clearly not in agreement with biblical scripture on which the content of the site itself is based. You can do the same for the Christian web sites for which you are the web master. Of course when you block ads, you should realize that you are missing out on potential clicks. Clicks are money. However, for believers who will not "sell out," the freedom of using Google AdSense controls to block sites is wonderful. So, should Christian Web Sites Earn Money With Google AdSense? Absolutely!
Keeping Control of the Google AdSense Ads that Display
When you sign into your AdSense account to check your earnings, you'll be taken to the overview of reports page, at least this is the case with the "old" display system. You should see a tab next to reports called "AdSense Setup." Click on it to be taken to where you'll see another tab, a sub-tab, called "Competitive Ad Filter." Click and you'll see the page where you can type in the URL's to be blocked from displaying on your Christian web sites. If you're unsure about how specific you should be, follow the guidelines that Google AdSense provides. For example, if you want to block an entire domain, you'd type in, "somedomain.com." If you want to block only a specific part of a domain or just a specific page, you'd type in, "forums.somedomain.com" or "somedomain.com/certainPage.htm." Click to save your changes and you won't be bothered with those ads again.
It will take a little time to discover and block all of the ads you don't want to appear on your Christian web sites. However, if you have the help of others watching for inappropriate ads, the process will go faster. Remember, NEVER click your own ads! You don't want to be found guilty of click fraud and get banned from AdSense. To discover the offending domain, simply hover your mouse over the link of the ad. You should see the domain appear. You can also right click on the ad after which you should see an option to copy the link location. I prefer the hover method myself as I usually block entire domains, not just sections or specific pages.
